My current research is trying to explain the processes responsible for the distribution patterns in marine fish populations, population structure, evolution and speciation. I use genetic tools, mitochondrial and nuclear DNA, to answer to questions about worldwide Anchovies (genus Engraulis).

Their unexpected patterns of genetic variation, plus being highly commercial and one of the most harvested species in the oceans, captured my attention and lead me to work on this model.
